Carole has dedicated her career to helping children reach their potential and is passionate about her work. She has been in private practice for over 20 years consulting with parents, advocating for children, and consulting with school districts as well as performing specialized reading and educational evaluations. She is an expert in special education law, school policies, and school procedures. She is an authority on learning disabilities, and dyslexia specifically. Her experience working as the Director of Special Education for a private special education school serving children with Autism, Emotional Issues, Intellectual Challenges, and ADHD has added to her wealth of knowledge related to assessment needs and appropriate program development for all children who struggle to learn.

Carole holds a bachelor's degree and two graduate degrees in education. Her B.S. degree is in Elementary Education, and her M.S. (graduate) degree and certification in Special Education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities/Reading Disabilities/Dyslexia are from Southern Connecticut State University. She is a certified and experienced regular and special education teacher for grades Pre-K through 12. Additionally, Carole has a 6th-year graduate certification in Administration: Supervision and Evaluation. All of her certifications are at the PROFESSIONAL level.
Carole has extensive experience. She has served as an adjunct professor for University of St. Joseph, Graduate School in West Hartford, Connecticut teaching teachers at the graduate level how to best address the needs of struggling students. For three years, she held the position of Literacy Specialist at a large middle school where she designed and implemented a very successful Literacy Clinic for children with moderate to severe reading disabilities, specifically dyslexia. She both assessed and taught dyslexic readers with amazing success using the Wilson Reading Program and Orton-Gillingham approaches, primarily. She served as the Special Education Coordinator/Department Chair and Assistant Principal where she was able to coach and evaluate both regular and special education teachers. She chaired hundreds of PPT and 504 meetings. Carole provided workshops for special education teachers about how to facilitate effective meetings and how to implement state and federal special education laws. She directed an elementary level Learning Center for 10 years. She has worked with students in grades K-12 as well as adults, and currently serves clients ages 3 to 20.
Carole's breadth of knowledge and expertise are brought to each and every client she works with and for.
Carole will consult with parents on a number of learning-related issues as well as special education law. She is an expert in the PPT and Section 504 processes as well as RTI/SRBI (Response To Intervention/Scientific Research-Based Intervention)
For many years Carole provided private in-depth reading evaluations. As a literacy expert, Carole thoroughly understands reading assessment, instruction, and learning. She has administered a wide variety of valid and reliable literacy assessments based on the individual child's needs. She understands how to analyze the data and diagnostic information obtained with a clear understanding of present levels of academic functioning as well as specific recommendations to inform instruction. She can help develop specific goals and objectives. She is thorough and professional.
Carole is now focused on advocacy and consultation and is not providing reading evaluations presently.
