Do you have a child who struggles in school?

Parents of children with Special Education IEP plans and other needs, Section 504 plans, or children experiencing general education issues are often faced with obstacles when navigating through the educational or special education process. Sometimes parents leave meetings feeling dissatisfied and confused. Sometimes they feel as if they were not heard. Sometimes they feel that the meeting was unproductive. Sometimes parents are not even sure if a meeting and an evaluation are needed. And sometimes, a parent simply feels the need for support and understanding at and after the meeting. I provide comprehensive support services to parents

at every stage of the process.

I consider myself a private consultant for parents and staff and a strong advocate for each child I serve. My perspective is based on years of educational and professional experience.  Why do I consider myself to be an expert?

I thoroughly understand the complexities of the general and special education process.

I have facilitated hundreds of PPT's and 504 meetings. I have trained teachers in their graduate program as an adjunct professor at the University of  St. Joseph in West Hartford, CT. I was the Special Education Director for a private school for children with autism, emotional issues, intellectual challenges, and ADHD, which has added to my wealth of knowledge related to assessment and the need to develop an appropriate program for all children who struggle to learn.  I developed and ran a Literacy Center for children with dyslexia for several years, doing extensive evaluations, creating programs, and supervising staff to implement those programs. I taught children with dyslexia using the Wilson Reading Program and Orton Gillingham program with great success. I have served as a special education coordinator and team leader at a large Middle School as well as a regular education teacher for several years to implement some of the classroom accommodations and modifications I knew to be required in regular classrooms. And I served for six years on the Board of Education of Region 4 ( Chester, Essex, and Deep River).  I earned a Bachelor's degree in Education, a Master's degree in Special Education, and a sixth-year Professional Degree in School Administration.

  • I belong to several professional organizations.

  • I am an expert in special education law, evaluation, and programming.

  • I understand the need for data to drive IEP decisions and monitor progress.
